About Kate

Kate Thiele is the founder and principal of Klarity. She is an accomplished and awarded business leader.

Kate is passionate about assisting people and businesses to deliver sustainable outcomes through clarity of purpose. Focused on strategy, effective stakeholder engagement, building successful cultures and using the right metrics.

She is well known for her passion about the power of the right narrative – to cite Marshall Ganz, a professor at Harvard University who helped structure the platform for Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, “Learning how to tell the story and the craft of the narrative is an important skill, critical for those in leadership roles.”

Kate has a demonstrated track record of delivering at national and international level and has worked in a range of industry sectors – including health, retail, manufacturing, in private and the NFP sectors. This includes with a Top 50 company and with two of Australia’s most recognisable not-for-profits. Her wealth of experience enables her to draw on a range of models and strategies to support Klarity to craft the narrative for people to achieve their business goals.

In 2015, whilst CEO of Guide Dogs SA/NT Kate was honoured to win the State and National Telstra For Purpose and Social Enterprise Awards, along with the honour of being recognised as the South Australian Business Woman of the Year. In the same year, she became the first South Australian to receive a Harvard Club of Australia Fellowship, undertaking the Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management program at Harvard University, Boston, USA.

She is achievement-oriented and customer-centric, placing high value on innovation, change and good governance. Her style can be described as collaborative; operating with influence and builds trust with boards, business, leadership and key stakeholders.

Kate is currently a Non-Executive Director with ZoosSA, the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust and the Crows Foundation and is honoured to be on the Selection Committee for the Winston Churchill Fellowship.


Telstra Business Women’s Awards

In 2015 Kate was honoured to win three Telstra Business Women’s Awards.  She was delighted to win the Telstra South Australian Business Woman of the Year Award as well as winning the State For Purpose and Social Enterprise Award.  It was an incredible recognition, only to be surpassed at the national awards where she went on to win the National Telstra For Purpose and Social Enterprise Award.
