Kate Thiele is an award-winning business leader with expertise in strategy, governance, and innovation. As the Founder and Principal of Klarity, Kate is a strategic advisor, executive mentor and facilitator with a demonstrated track record of delivering at national and international level. Kate’s wealth of experience enables her to draw on a range of strategies to support people to achieve their business goals with Klarity.

Kate advises and mentors boards, CEOs and executives across the not-for-profit, corporate and public sectors. Her board experience encompasses higher education, disability, the arts, technology, start-ups and conservation, and her executive career spans the manufacturing, retail, health, disability, aged care, and not-for-profit sectors. This includes a Top 50 company and three of Australia’s most recognisable not-for-profits.

Kate is achievement-oriented and customer-centric, placing high value on innovation, change and good governance. Her style is best described as collaborative, operating with influence and building trust with boards, businesses, executives and key stakeholders. She possesses an entrepreneurial mindset and is passionate about guiding people and businesses towards sustainable outcomes through a focus on clarity of purpose, strategy, effective stakeholder engagement, building outstanding company cultures, and using the right metrics. 

In 2015, whilst CEO of Guide Dogs SA/NT, Kate was honoured with both the Telstra National and State ‘Businesswoman of the Year: For Purpose and Social Enterprise’ Awards, and had the privilege of being recognised as the South Australian Business Woman of the Year. In the same year, she became the first South Australian to receive a Harvard Club of Australia Fellowship to attend Harvard University, where she nurtured her strategic and not-for-profit management skills under the expert guidance of some of the world’s leading business professors.

Kate is currently President of Skylight Mental Health, Chair of the Adelaide Crows Foundation, Director of the Flinders Foundation and Deputy Chair of the UniSA MBA Advisory Board. She also holds a national role as the Executive Director of Meals on Wheels Australia.
